It seems that as years go, 2014 might be pretty quiet on the royal-watching front (trust me, I have not forgotten you all, my lovely readers), but we’ve got our first big news of the year!
The Marshal of the Realm in Sweden has issued a press release that Princess Madeleine has given birth to a daughter.
The baby was born at 10:41 pm Eastern Time in New York City, and both Madeleine and the baby are doing well.
Princess Estelle’s names and territorial designation weren’t announced for a day or so, so we have to wait a little bit before we know anything more. There were some potential questions as to whether or not this child would be royal, considering that she would be born (and likely raised) outside Sweden and her father is not royal; we’ll have to see what happens once the King meets with his council.
Grattis (Congratulations) to Madeleine and Chris!
