This morning it was announced that Prince Friso, son of Princess Beatrix and brother of King Willem-Alexander, has died at the age of 44. Prince Friso had been buried in an avalanche during a ski trip in Austria, during which he had been without oxygen for an extended period of time, causing brain damage and resulting in a coma. While he had improved to what doctors called a “state of minimal consciousness,” Prince Friso never truly awoke.
Prince Friso is survived by his wife Princess Mabel; his two daughters, Countess Luana and Countess Zaria; his mother Princess Beatrix; and his brothers, King Willem-Alexander and Prince Constantijn.
My condolences go out to the family at this time.
